Who We Are

Save Live Oak Canyon is made up of dozens of people in Redlands, California and around the United States who care about preserving wide-open views, ancient heritage, and pockets of wildness in urban areas. We aim to link 120 unprotected acres of wild land near Little Live Oak Canyon and Oakmont Park in Redlands to surrounding open space and wildlife corridors.

Our Mission

We are working to raise $9.6 million to buy 120 acres of wild land before it is sold to a developer for luxury homes. We know this is a daunting task, and we think passion and a growing number of supporters will help us succeed.

In a generous agreement with the city of Redlands, the landowner has already worked to protect dozens of acres in the area. However, 40 acres are still slated for building, with the fate of an adjacent 80 uncertain. The area includes a high ridgeline with views of thousands of acres of protected lands, a key wildlife corridor, and a reputed Native American geoglyph--an ancient site with significant solar alignments and timeless views of Mt. San Gorgonio and Mt. San Jacinto.

We are seeking to purchase these remaining 120 acres and donate them to be managed as public lands, in order to protect the whole area for current and future generations.
